Why Courage Will Always Change the World
By Issa | News from the Other Side
In every dark moment of history, there has always been one force strong enough to push back against oppression, injustice, and fear.
That force is courage.
The power to stand up.
The power to speak the truth when it’s unpopular.
The power to resist when surrender feels easier.
Time and time again, history has shown that it is not the powerful who shape the world—it is the ones who dare to stand against them.
And in today’s world, when division, fear, and greed seem to be winning, we must ask ourselves:
Do we still have the power to stand up?
The answer must be yes.
Standing Up Has Always Changed the World
The most powerful movements in history didn’t start with governments, armies, or billionaires.
They started with ordinary people who refused to accept injustice.
1. The Abolitionists Who Stood Against Slavery
✔ Slavery was once seen as too big to fight.
✔ The entire economy depended on it, and those in power refused to change.
✔ But abolitionists—both Black and white—stood up and refused to accept it as normal.
Because of their courage, slavery was abolished.
But it didn’t happen until enough people were willing to fight for it.
2. The Civil Rights Movement: Refusing to Back Down
✔ Jim Crow laws were designed to keep Black Americans powerless.
✔ The government, police, and business world supported segregation and racial oppression.
✔ Yet, leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Fannie Lou Hamer—along with millions of everyday people—stood up.
They faced arrests, beatings, fire hoses, and even death.
But because they refused to back down, America was forced to change.
The lesson? Oppression only continues when people are too afraid to resist it.
3. The Women’s Rights Movement: Defying the System
✔ There was a time when women were seen as property, not people.
✔ They couldn’t vote, own land, or even control their own bodies.
✔ But women like Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, and countless others stood up—even when the law was against them.
Because of them, women gained the right to vote, work, and lead.
And that fight is still going today.
Courage is the only thing that has ever changed the rules.
What About Today? Who Will Stand Up Now?
The problems of the past may look different, but the struggle is the same.
✔ Racism still exists.
✔ Injustice still exists.
✔ Greedy elites still exploit the people.
✔ Fear is still being used to divide us.
But so does the power to resist.
Every person reading this has a choice:
✔ Stay silent, or speak the truth.
✔ Accept injustice, or fight for what’s right.
✔ Be afraid, or be bold.
History has already proven that one voice can spark a movement.
The Power to Stand Up is in All of Us
The world is not shaped by the strongest armies or the richest corporations.
It is shaped by the people who refuse to bow to fear.
✔ Rosa Parks wasn’t famous—she just refused to move.
✔ Nelson Mandela spent decades in prison, but never gave up.
✔ Harriet Tubman was a runaway slave, but she freed hundreds.
Their courage changed the world.
And now it’s our turn.
The only thing required to change history is the courage to stand up.
